Imagination Adventures Book Club: The Game of Light

Imagination Adventures is an awesome little online book shop for children with some of the most beautiful books around. We’ve enjoyed titles from their Barefoot Books range before and as of this month are fully paid up members of the Imagination Adventures Book Club, with lots of surprise titles landing at our door. Our first book was the best surprise ever and my girls first introduction to Herve Tullet.

We recently visited the Family Art Dock at the Tate in Liverpool and in their book corner were¬†a ton of Tullet books, mostly half-used but still completely adorable and although I had heard of him before I’d never really looked at his books up close first. I now want them all and my children will probably be coerced into having more than they want.

Anyway, in line with this it was an awesome surprise to see our first Imagination Adventures Book Club read was:

The Game of Light is one of the best interactive books we’ve ever had to enjoy. Jessamy is literally in fits of joy with it although she hasn’t quite worked out why she can’t see the shadows and shapes during the day time.

The Game of Light tells a simple story through the creation of shadows and, after shooting to the shop to buy a torch, we had absolutely load of fun at bed time enjoying this book. It can be a little awkward turning the pages and shining the torch, causing Jess a couple of mega grumps, but they’re pretty much normal anyway!

I am now quite desperate for all of Tullet’s books and am itching to spend money I don’t have. The Game of Light is an absolutely awesome introduction to an author who keeps kids entertained, creates magical story times and the quality of his books can’t be argued with.

Thanks Imagination Adventures!
