I found about this lovely idea from Elizabeth (Mommatwo) who does seem to uncover some pretty awesome things. I'm a natural list-maker and this LIST OF LISTS is something I cannot help but get involved with. Yes, I know I've got plenty going on at the blog at the moment but I thought one more thing couldn't hurt.
The first list on the list of lists to write to life your spirits is:
People who have influenced or inspired you
I've decided to limit this to three main people otherwise I could go on forever but I shall start with:
My wonderful mum. She's brilliant, she's worked her arse off her entire life and she's always been there when I needed anything. Yes, we may not be millionaires and I can't ask her to like buy me a car or put a deposit down on a house for me like the current government would like but if I need to talk about anything, she's the one. She also adores the girls and watching Jessamy with her is just amazing.
Next up is a bit less close to me but it is Rosa Luxemburg. Rosa Luxemburg was one of my first heroes when I began to understand politics properly. I was about sixteen, which isn't to say I didn't have views before but you know, and I learned about Rosa in my history A-Level classes. I was fascinated by her role in the Spartacist movement and horrified by her death. I have read many of her letters and she is just truly inspiring. When I visited Berlin my German teacher was kind enough to take me to visit the spot where they think she was drowned. Rest in Peace Rosa.
(I also considered Sophie Scholl here as she too is wonderful).
The third person I have to mention is Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl made me want to write when I was five or six years old and he still makes me want to write today - I may not write anywhere near as much as I want and it may not be very good but hey, he keeps me going.
(Other people who inspire me to write are Charles Bukowski, Caroline Smailes and Nat Johnson's lyrics).
I know I've mentioned others but the top three are right there and aren't likely to change. Other people who I can mention include:
- Mo Mowlam
- My Gran
- Keir Hardie
- Jimmy McGovern
- Bob Marley
- Aneurin Bevan
There are plenty more who could be mentioned but the top three are the most important and the others listed are also important too. There is inspiration all over the shop if you think about it, well that's what this post has told me anyway.
